Livingston Lands New Shopping Center: Container Store, Shake Shack, Starbucks Among Tenants

"The town is excited about this," Livingston Mayor Alfred Anthony said of the coming project.

Livingston, NJ - Sabre Real Estate Group and Saber Real Estate Advisors recently announced that a new shopping center in the Route 10 retail corridor in Livingston is close to breaking ground after four years of planning.

The announcement follows the signing of leases with a major retailer and three national restaurant chains, according to a company news release.

The Container Store, a national retailer of storage and organization products, will be the anchor tenant at The Corner at Livingston Circle, a new 41,000-square-foot retail center to be built near the intersection of Route 10 and Eisenhower Parkway, company officials stated.

Joining the Container Store, which will occupy a 24,500-square-foot building in the center, are Shake Shack, Starbucks Coffee, and Blaze Pizza, said Larry Anderson, Executive Vice President of Sabre Real Estate Group, which has offices in Jersey City and Long Island, New York.

“The town is excited about this,” said Livingston Mayor Alfred Anthony. “We’re very pleased to have that corner of the circle vibrant again with new, quality businesses.”

Saber Real Estate Advisors, with offices in Aventura, Florida and Armonk, New York, is developing the site.

According to a release, the property has been rezoned and building permit applications are awaiting approval. The developer anticipates beginning construction within a month and completing the project by the end of 2016.

“Saber is excited to be developing at this marquis corner in Livingston, one of the most sought after submarkets in New Jersey,” said Michael Klinger, managing member of Saber Real Estate Advisors. “The importance of the location has been endorsed by high quality tenants such as The Container Store, Starbucks, Shake Shack and Blaze Pizza all of which have been welcomed with anticipation and open arms by the area’s high demographic shoppers.”

The Container Store’s Livingston location will be its first location in Essex County and the third in New Jersey. Other locations are in Cherry Hill, Camden County and Paramus.

The retailer had a desire to locate in the Livingston area but required a site that was “highly visible and had regional access to their customer base,” Anderson said.

Meanwhile, The Circle will be the fourth Garden State location for The Shake Shack, which serves hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, frozen custard, and other items.

The Starbucks Coffee location in the new center will be the chain’s second in Livingston, but the only one with a drive-thru, according to the release.

Blaze, a nationwide build-your-own pizza chain with 103 restaurants, has sites in Wayne, Newark and Paramus, and 87 additional sites in development.

Anderson said Sabre Real Estate Group is close to signing another as yet unidentified tenant, which would leave less than 7,000 square feet to complete the lease-up of the center.

“It’s a great demographic… There’s lots of wealth in Livingston,” Anderson added.

The Corner at Livingston Circle will serve a growing residential population of more than 156,000 people within a five-mile radius with a median household income of more than $120,000 and a daily traffic count exceeding 31,600 vehicles, the company release stated.
