The Livingston Public Library will host its 3rd annual Makers Day on Saturday, March 10, 2018! 350 people attended Livingston Library’s Makers Day last year and enjoyed a variety of interactive activities ranging from sewing and paper crafts to robotics and circuitry. Makers Day is a statewide NJ initiative designed to celebrate, promote, and introduce maker culture, as well as the values associated with making tinkering and STEM-based learning.
NJ Makers Day allows communities to share hands-on programming opportunities, demonstrations and displays, and the expertise of the individuals and organizations that make, create, and develop right in their own backyards. NJ Makers Day will bring together residents throughout NJ on Saturday, March 10 in libraries, schools, museums, colleges, makerspaces, businesses and other community locations that are hosting Makers Day to celebrate making and maker culture.

“We want the Library to be a place where Livingston residents are inspired to reach their creative potential,” said Amy Babcock Landry, Library Director. “We feel that New Jersey Makers Day is the perfect opportunity to promote that idea.” Community members of all ages are invited to come for an exciting day of creative inspiration.
At Livingston Library, participants will experience a robotics demonstration from two local robotics clubs, as well as interactive activities and crafts with LEGOs, electrical circuits, and SLIME. The Library will also be showcasing its Library of Things, a collection of portable makerspace kits (also known as the Ready, Set, Create! Toolkits) and other borrowable items such as mobile hotspots and telescopes.
