Livingston Man Collapses At Xmas Eve Mass, Revived By Defibrillator

Two off-duty Livingston first responders and a cardiologist came to the man's aid, a report says.

Livingston, NJ – Parishioners at Saint Philomena Church in Livingston witnessed a dramatic resuscitation during their Christmas Eve Mass when a local man collapsed and had to be given revived via defibrillator shocks.

According to TAP Into Livingston, the incident began when 67-year-old Brendan Devlin fell to the floor during Mass, reportedly losing consciousness and a pulse.

Luckily, several first responders and medical professionals were on hand, including an off-duty Livingston firefighter, an off-duty police officer and a cardiologist, TAP Into reported.

After administering CPR, responders gave Devlin three shocks from the church’s defibrillator and he regained consciousness and breathing.

The Livingston First Aid Squad transported Devlin to Saint Barnabas Medical Center following his resuscitation.

According to Reverend Monsignor Robert Fuhrman, Devlin has been released from the hospital and is in good condition, TAP Into stated.
