Livingston Man's Death Ruled Homicide: Prosecutor

The Livingston man was found dead in his Carteret Road home from blunt force trauma, authorities say.

Livingston, NJ – Authorities are investigating a homicide in Livingston after police found a body inside a Carteret Road home on Tuesday.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, police officers found Douglas Castellano, 69, of Livingston, dead inside his home around 7 p.m.

Police discovered Castellano’s body after family members indicated they had been unable to reach him, authorities stated.

Following an autopsy, authorities declared his death a homicide, ruling that the cause of death was “blunt force trauma,” prosecutors said.

Harry Christianson Jr., 31, a boarder living in the house with Castellano, has been charged with murder, hindering, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, authorities stated.
