Livingston May See New Hotel, Land-Use Ordinance
A proposed ordinance would bring a four-story, Marriott-brand hotel to the area near the Livingston Mall.
Livingston, NJ – A four-story, Marriott-brand hotel may be coming to Livingston if township officials approve a proposed ordinance to create new permitted uses in the area surrounding the Livingston Mall.
Township officials revealed details about the proposed ordinance during a March 14 special meeting.
The ordinance - Ord. 1-2016 – would explicitly permit construction of a hotel in the municipality’s D-S district.

Developer Simon Property Group, which owns and operates the Livingston Mall, plans to partner on the new hotel with private equity firm Noble Investment Group.
The hotel would be constructed on a paved portion of the existing parking lot at the Livingston Mall near South Orange Avenue and Walnut Street.

A second public hearing on the proposed ordinance and hotel was scheduled for April 4, but has been postponed with a new date to be determined, township officials announced on Tuesday.
