Livingston Orchestra To Host Standout Teen Violinist From Teaneck

The Livingston Symphony Orchestra will host Eilene Lee of Teaneck as a featured soloist for its 2017-2018 season finale on May 12.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston Symphony Orchestra (LSO) will host Eilene Lee, a 16-year-old classical music standout, as a featured soloist for its 2017-2018 season finale on Saturday, May 12.

According to the LSO, Lee, 16, of Teaneck, a sophomore at Bergen County Academies, started studying the violin at the age of 5. She’s been studying with Yu-Jeong Lee and currently is a student of Naoko Tanaka at The Juilliard School, pre-college division.

Lee was chosen to help end the orchestra’s season because of her “technical prowess as well as a musicality beyond her years,” the LSO stated. She will perform the “Bruch Violin Concerto” on May 12.

The LSO provided the following biography of Lee’s accomplishments:

“Her many prizes in numerous national and international violin competitions include 1st prize winner at the YWCA New York Music Competition and NY International Music Concours and winner of the NLPA National Young Virtuosi Recital Competition. She received awards at other competitions such as the KRB NY International Music Competition, the International Virtuoso competition, and the International Grande Music Competition, and has performed in the Recital Hall in Carnegie, as well as Merkin Hall in Kaufman Center. She has appeared as a chamber musician as well, and won 1st prizes in several competitions including Camerata International Music Competition and East Coast International Music Competition. She has also participated in music programs including The Echo Music Festival and School, and The Saarburg International Music Festival and School in Saarburg, Germany. Her school related orchestral experiences span the New Jersey Region I Junior High School Orchestra where she has served as concertmaster, the New York Youth Symphony Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra 2, and the Juilliard Pre-college Symphony where she has served as principal. Eilene has also performed as a soloist with the New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra. In addition, she volunteers at various charitable events with her chamber group, and participates in the Back to BACH Project, in which young musicians visit elementary schools and libraries to share a love of making music. She also finds time to visit senior homes across Northern New Jersey as a member of the Good Neighbor Ensemble.”

The Livingston Symphony Orchestra will present this season’s finale, “1001 Nights,” at Livingston High School, 30 Robert Harp Drive, Livingston on Saturday, May 12,at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults; $15 for seniors and students, and free for music lovers under 12 accompanied by an adult.
