Livingston Parents Can Swap Kids Halloween Costumes At 2026 Holiday Event

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Tired of buying your kids new Halloween costume every year – only to throw them away after the holiday? A local “costume swap shop” in Livingston may be just what the doctor ordered.

A free Kids Halloween Costume Swap will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Livingston Senior/Community Center, 204 Hillside Avenue (room - Tahaney 1). There is no cost to attend.

Here’s why organizers have put together this local event:

“Halloween contributes thousands of pounds of waste to landfills every year and costumes are a big part of this. They are often made of plastic and other synthetic materials which do not break down easily. Giving costumes a second (or third) life can save thousands of pounds of trash from making its way to landfills and waterways.”

People are invited to drop off clean, gently used costumes before the event by Friday, Oct. 2 at the Livingston Senior/Community Center (lower level, room 115, Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
