Livingston Plans Veterans Day Ceremony For This Weekend
The day is held Nov. 11 each year. At 11 a.m., Livingstons' veterans' groups will hold a ceremony to which the public is invited.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston is planning a Veterans Day ceremony this Saturday, Nov. 11. All interested members of the public are invited to attend.
"Veterans Day is dedicated to celebrating our nation's service members who have served the county in war or peace," the town noted. "The Livingston Veterans organizations invite you to join them in honoring the brave men and women who united for a cause greater than any one person, and did so bravely in service to our country."=
The ceremony will be held by local veterans organizations at 11 a.m. at the Veterans War Memorial Park on the Oval, on Robert Harp Drive.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the Livingston Public Library.
Veterans Day had its root in Armistice day, which celebrated the end of World War I on November 11, 1918 (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month). In 1956, it was proclaimed Veterans Day so that it could honor all veterans. (Memorial Day, on the other hand, honors those who've passed away.)
