Livingston Police Bring Back Award-Winning ‘National Night Out’
The Livingston Police Department will hold the community's 11th National Night Out at the Memorial Oval on Aug. 6.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston Police Department is bringing back its award-winning National Night Out program for 2019.
The Livingston Police Department will hold the community’s 11th National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the Memorial Oval. The free, annual event begins at 5:30 p.m. and will include food and soft drinks, rides, face painting, balloons and carnival games for children, giveaways, a DJ, law enforcement displays, safety/security demonstrations and anti-drug activities.
There will also be displays from various local organizations and businesses. Organizations or local business that would like to have a free display table at the event, or anyone who would like to donate, volunteer or learn more about Livingston’s upcoming National Night Out is asked to call the Community Policing Unit at (973) 992-3000 ext. #3600, or email jklapal@livingstonnj.org.

To help kick off the 2019 National Night Out, the Livingston Police Department is inviting the children of Livingston to design a National Night Out poster. Prizes will be awarded for the best posters in each of the following categories: ages 5-7, ages 8-10, and ages 11-13. All winning posters will be displayed at National Night Out. National Night Out festivities are held nationwide and are meant to increase awareness about police anti-crime programs that are taking place in communities. Last year, over 37 million people in all 50 states, as well as U.S. territories, Canada and military bases worldwide participated in the yearly event.

The Livingston Police Department has earned a reputation for its own version of the event, placing third nationwide in 2018 among the 217 communities that applied for areas with populations of 15,000-49,999.
