Police Charge 3 In Separate Shoplifting Attempts At Macy's In Livingston Mall

The Livingston police nabbed 3 people in separate attempts to shoplift more than $500 in items from Macy's, they said.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Aside from dealing with a string of car burglaries and a theft on Memorial Day last week, the Livingston Police have also been dealing with thefts at the Livingston Mall.

Police released the following information from reports:

On June 3 at 2 p.m., Livingston officers responded to Macy’s at the Livingston Mall on a report of a suspect, later identified as a 23-year-old Brooklyn man, who selected $600 worth of children's clothing "with no concern for his selection" and paid with a store credit card. The man was found to be using a stolen credit card belonging to a Macy’s customer, police said. He was placed under arrest and charged with theft, using stolen credit cards, and possessing of stolen credit cards, and released on a summons.

The same day, at 6:09 p.m., Livingston officers responded to Macy's again. The store's loss prevention had a 51-year-old Newark woman in custody. She had selected over $500 worth of clothing that she left the store without paying for, police said. She was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting and possession of an anti-shoplfiting device. Her charges were placed on a warrant and she was transferred to the Essex County Jail.

The next day, at 8:11 p.m., Livingston officers responded to Macy’s at the Livingston Mall on a report of shoplifter that was running away from loss prevention officers.

Upon officers' arrival, the suspect was last seen heading towards St. Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center at 200 South Orange Ave. Livingston officers eventually located the suspect, a 35-year-old Irvington man, hiding in the bathroom at the ACC, they said. He had shoplifted over $600 in merchandise and was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting, police said. His charges were placed on a warrant and he was transported to the Essex County Jail.
