Livingston Police Investigating One Bike and Two Pedestrian Accidents

The following information has been provided by the Livingston Police Department.

Livingston police are investigating three car accidents this week that hospitalized a Livingston woman, an Englewood toddler and a young Livingston bicyclist, Det. Sgt. Anthony Dippold said Tuesday.

The first accident happened 12:30 p.m. Oct. 12 on Route 10 near Livingston Avenue.

Sylvia Berrian, 46, of Livingston, was crossing north when she was hit by a car driven by Sheila Skeffers, 80, of Orange, Dippold said. Berrian, who sustained broken ribs, was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital for treatment, Dippold said. Skeffers was unhurt.

The other two accidents happened on Oct. 17. 

At approximately 3 p.m., Alice Klein, 61, of Livingston, was pushing a stroller containing her grandson, David Kahn, 3, of Englewood, at the crosswalk when the stroller was hit by a car at the intersection of North Hillside Avenue and Rockledge Drive, Dippold said.

The toddler, who was partially ejected from the stroller, had serious internal injuries and he was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital for treatment, Dippold said. Klein and the driver, Elizabeth Wellen, 88, of Livingston, were not hurt, according to police. 

No further details were available Tuesday afternoon about either Berrian and Kahn's conditions. 

The third accident happened around 5:30 p.m. on the 30 block of Winchester Drive when 10-year-old Eli Siegel of Livingston was leaving a driveway on his bicycle when he was hit by a car driven by Jocelyn Sian-Stein, of Livingston, Dippold said.

Siegel was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released. Sian-Stein sustained no injuries. 

All of the accidents continue to be investigated and the drivers may receive summonses, Dippold said.
