Livingston Police Seek Tips In Solving Burglary and Theft

The following information has been provided by the Livingston Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Livingston police are looking for tips to solve a home burglary and a separate attempted theft and hit and run at the Livingston Mall involving a bread truck.

The home burglary happened around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at a home on Yale Court, Det. Sgt. Anthony Dippold said.

Police said a vehicle was used to smash into the garage and enter the house. Jewelery and two laptops were taken from the unoccupied home, according to police. Video surveillance tape from a neighboring house is being analyzed by the police department and there is no description of the suspect or suspects at this time, Dippold said.

The theft attempt happened around noon Wednesday when the police received an emergency call from workers at the Sears in the Livingston Mall.

According to Dippold, a man tried to shoplift some tools from Sears. The suspect dropped the items and drove away in an illegally-parked bread truck once he was approached in the parking lot by Sears employees. The suspect hit a parked car during the getaway, Dippold said.

The police know who the suspect is and they are looking for tips and information to his whereabouts, Dippold said.
