Livingston Police Warn Of Coyote Sightings And Give Updates
After a coyote attacked a girl and dog in Essex County last month, there have been recent coyote sightings in Livingston.
LIVINGSTON, NJ — With at least one coyote attack reported in Essex County last month, officials are warning that more recently, coyotes have been seen around Livingston.
A week ago, on Monday, Livingston police wrote, "Due to recent coyote sightings, Livingston Animal Control urges residents to exercise caution and awareness when walking pets near wooded areas or during dawn/dusk. Please do not leave your pets unattended. Should you spot a coyote, please keep a safe distance and remain calm. Feel free to direct your concerns or to report a sighting to our Animal Control Officer. Email: animalcontrol@livingstonnj.org."

Most importantly, if you observe coyotes in the daytime that show no fear of humans or if a coyote attacks a person, immediately contact your local police and NJ Fish and Wildlife at 908-735-8793; outside of normal business hours call the DEP Hotline at 877-WARN-DEP."
