We started off the “Dogs Days of Summer” with a lecture on How to Speak Dog: Beyond Sit and Down. Here we learned how to better communicate with our four legged friends. But dogs weren’t the only creatures on our August programming schedule. We also enjoyed the program A Peek Into the Beehive, where local beekeeper Lior Shliechkorn gave us a glimpse into the complex world of the beehive.

Those interested in astronomy enjoyed a Virtual lecture on The Amazing Science of the James Webb Telescope, where participants were able to ask Modhumita Sabata, Principal Systems Engineer at the Space Science Institute, questions about the telescope!

Those looking to get crafty also enjoyed our drop-in Crafternoon crafting group. We also enjoyed the instructor-led craft Adult Art Workshop: Create Watercolor Seascape.

Do you enjoy using vinegar in cooking? Participants at our Herbal Veingear Workshop crafted their own unique herbal vinegar blends to use in their summer cooking!

Those looking to enjoy an afternoon film joined us in the Library’s program room for our weekly Weekends with the Oscars. It was wonderful to enjoy an Oscar nominated film with friends, while beating the summer afternoon heat!

We wouldn’t be a library without books! Readers came together to discuss Ellen Feldman’s The Living and the Lost at our Bookish Vibes book group meeting. Ellen Feldman also joined us on Zoom! We also were happy to celebrate the launch of Never Say Invisible by late local author Jeremy Schreiber.

Adult Summer Reading ended in August. 100 Adults read over 324 books! Adults also were able to participate in our month long Livi Cares Adult Volunteer Club where adults wrote letters to be sent to Seniors in need of a smile through the organization Letters Against Isolation. We collected 40 letters!

Be sure to visit our events calendarto see what fun and engaging events we have planned for September.

See you next month!
