Livingston Restaurant’s Beloved Mural Painted Over
What happened to one of Livingston's most well-known murals?

LIVINGSTON, NJ — What happened to one of Livingston’s most well-known murals? That’s been the question on the minds of many local residents and art lovers ever since the mural on the back of the building that houses local restaurant and pizzeria Porto by Antonio was mysteriously painted over in white last weekend.
The Livingston Planning Board allegedly asked Porto’s owner to remove the mural or face a significant fine, as the initial permission was for the artwork to reflect food and the restaurant proceeded with its new vision without a permit, TAP Into Livingston reported.
The Livingston restaurant, which also has a sister location in North Bergen, is located at 471 West Mount Pleasant Ave. A grand opening for the Livingston location was held in June 2016.
