Livingston, Saint Barnabas Drive Will Tackle ‘Low Blood Supply’

A blood drive in Livingston will combat a shortage of donors during the COVID-19 crisis.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The new coronavirus has taken a toll on local health care systems in many ways. Livingston town officials are teaming up with Saint Barnabas Medical Center to combat one of them: a shortage of blood donors.

Administrators at Saint Barnabas released the following statement on Monday about a blood drive that will take place on Tuesday, May 19:

“As an unintended consequence of the coronavirus public health crisis, blood and platelet supplies have dropped to dangerously low levels. In response, Saint Barnabas Medical Center and the Township of Livingston have teamed up to hold a blood and platelet drive on May 19, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Livingston Community Center, Lower Level - Main Entrance, 204 Hillside Avenue, Livingston, NJ 07039. Please help us keep our communities blood supply strong during these very difficult times. Social distancing and additional disinfecting guidelines are in place at all blood drives. Your health and safety is our top priority. Appointments are required and can be made at www.rwjuhdonorclub.org or by calling 732-235-8100, ext. 221 or 248. Please bring a photo ID and be sure to eat and drink prior to donating.”
