Livingston School Snow Days, Delayed Openings: What To Do For 2016
Here's what to do school if school is cancelled or delayed this winter, Livingston.
Livingston, NJ – As North Jersey hunkers down for a possible nor’easter/snowstorm that forecasters say is “increasingly likely” to hit Friday afternoon, it’s helpful for local parents to brush up on what to do in event of a school snow day.

Here’s what the Livingston Public School District says to do for snow days, cancellations and delayed openings for the 2015-16 school year:
“The decision to open or close schools in bad weather is a difficult decision and LPS is very sensitive to how these decisions affect you and your family. While students are better served by being in school - which empowers them to learn, create, contribute, and grow - our top priority is always their safety.

“Livingston Public Schools uses an outside vendor to send e-alerts to parents concerning delayed openings, school closings, early dismissals and other emergencies. This vendor, like others providing the same service, is activated using the internet. Sometimes the vendor experiences technical glitches that significantly delay the delivery of our automated phone calls and e-mails. Livingston Public Schools knows that the possibility of such a glitch exists and would like to remind you that there are alternative ways this important information is disseminated.
- LPS Website - By 5:30 a.m. the message is posted on www.livingston.org and each individual school’s website. If the decision is made the night before, the message will be posted by 10:00 p.m.
- Media - The following media outlets are notified and broadcast the information on their news programs and/or websites: News 12 New Jersey, WABC-TV, Fox, WPIX, NBC and LivingstonPatch.com.
“Please do not call the Livingston Township Police Department to find out if school is delayed or closed,” school officials add.
