Livingston Schools' Bell Times Change in 2012-13
The bell schedule change is the result of a new agreement with the Livingston Education Association.

At the Livingston Board of Education meeting on June 4, the ratification of a new labor agreement with the Livingston Education Association was approved. As a result of this new agreement, Livingston Public Schools will be able to address a long-term priority of the Strategic Plan to maximize our instructional time.
To add this time for all students, elementary, middle and high schools will have new bell times for dismissal next year. Those new bell times are as follows (see detailed bell schedules for secondary schools below):

In addition, elementary school specials will follow a new six day schedule. Specials will be 45 minutes and students will have physical education twice, and world languages, media, art and music once every six days. Specials will begin on the first day of school.
The new schedule will benefit students and their teachers by maximizing the instructional time for core content areas, intervention and enrichment, and special services. The revised schedule will accommodate the restoration of world languages in kindergarten through third grade and the G/T art and music program with no associated fees. With the new schedule students will be able to continue honing their keyboarding skills in the third grade. Currently, only second grade students are receiving formal keyboarding instruction.
Under the revised schedule, teachers will have at least two common planning periods each week allowing for greater collaboration amongst grade levels.
