LIVINGSTON, NJ — A group of teens from Livingston and Short Hills recently raised more than $600 for Newark School of the Arts with an online, Mother’s Day plant sale.

The 17-year-olds, Allie Benjamin of Short Hills and Abby Heltzer and Dani Pritikin of Livingston, competitively dance together at Michele’s Dance Studio. They organized a “Kostumes For Kids” drive last spring for the Newark school by collecting and donating about 200 gently used dance costumes from fellow dancers following their annual recital.

This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, they weren’t able to hold another costume drive, but still wanted to give back to the school. So instead, the dancers potted and gift wrapped more than 100 begonias that were sold to local residents, then made no-contact deliveries to doorsteps on Mother’s Day morning.
