Livingston Students Earn Nods From Cops For LEAD Essays

Students at Mt. Pleasant Middle School in Livingston earned recognition for their anti-drug and alcohol essays, officials said.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — A pair of students at Mt. Pleasant Middle School in Livingston earned recognition for their anti-drug and alcohol essays last month, officials said.

According to the Livingston Police Department, sixth-graders at Mt. Pleasant Middle School worked all year long with Law Enforcement Against Drugs (LEAD) officers Joy Klapal and Kevin Mullaney from the Livingston Police Department.

On June 17, the students had a party with their LEAD officers, including pizza provided by the HAS of Mt. Pleasant Middle School. During the pizza party, two students from each class received a prize in recognition of writing the best LEAD essays.

The essay winners were entered into a raffle for a $100 gift card donated by Livingston PBA #263, officials said.
