LIVINGSTON, NJ — Are you upset with the way the 2016 election turned out? Do you want to finally take action and switch political parties for the primary elections in June? Time’s almost up, Livingston.
According to the New Jersey Division of Elections, a registered voter currently affiliated with a political party who wishes to change their party affiliation must file a Political Party Affiliation Declaration Form 55 days before a primary election.
With the 2017 primary election slated for June 6, voters who want to make the switch have until April 12 to file the paperwork. Voters can also switch to "unaffiliated,” which would allow them to declare their party affiliation up to and including primary election day.
