West Caldwell, Livingston Rank At Top Of Essex County Snow Totals

The snow totals are in for 9 Essex County towns from Tuesday's storm. See the accumulations and the forecast for this Friday.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — The National Weather Service posted updated snow totals Tuesday night after a storm brought an accumulation to several North Jersey towns, but only dropped sleet on others.

Totals were reported to the NWS by individual spotters before 9 a.m. Tuesday. The totals are:

  • West Caldwell: 5.1 inches
  • Montclair: 5 inches
  • Verona: 4.8 inches
  • Livingston: 4.5 inches
  • Cedar Grove: 4.1 inches
  • West Orange: 4 inches
  • Bloomfield: 3.7 inches
  • Maplewood: 2.5 inches
  • Newark Airport: 1.6 inches

NWS forecasters issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Essex County for Wednesday night, saying black ice could make the roads slippery.

Forecasters are predicting a significant rain accumulation on Friday evening. As of now, they predict, for the area near Maplewood, "New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible." Check updates here.
