Livingston's 2017 Proposed Town Budget Would Mean $53 Tax Increase: Officials

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston town officials introduced a proposed 2017 municipal budget that would hike the local purpose tax rate by 1.9 percent for property owners during a recent public meeting.
The proposed budget would mean an estimated increase of $53.35 for the average Livingston homeowner, municipal officials reported.
Acting Township Manager Russell Jones and Chief Financial Officer Kim Kientz said during the March 20 meeting that the proposed budget total is 0.4 percent lower than the budget adopted for 2016, TAP Into Livingston stated.

According to the meeting agenda, a public hearing on the proposed budget will be held at the Livingston Municipal Building at 8 p.m. on May 1.
