Lucky Dog!

Firefighters rescue 'Pinkie' from a tight squeeze.

Pinky is one lucky dog. Livingston firefighters were able to free her after Pinky managed to get herself stuck in a tight squeeze.

The township just can’t seem to resist helping pets this summer. Last week the police department asked for help inwho has been cared for since she was found injured by animal control near Burnet Hill School.

On Tuesday, Fire Chief Chris Mullin released a report and photo of “Pinky’s” rescue.

In the fire department’s own version of the dog days of summer, rescue workers freed Pinky after the dog was chased under a neighbor’s shed by a groundhog. Animal control was able to free the groundhog but the dog was located in a tight area and was unable to get out on its own, Mullin said.

The Fire Chief, Animal Control Officer Jim Salvadore, and firefighters Tom Belli, John Anderson and Bill Mollineaux used the Fire Department’s Air-Bag System to raise the shed about one-foot high to free the trapped dog, Mullin said.
