Macy’s plans to cut dozens of jobs in Livingston, Paramus and Ramsey as it prepares to close two stores and move another in North Jersey.
Macy's Retail Holdings has issued a layoff notice for 89 workers at the above locations, according to a state Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) advisory.
WARN notices offer protection to workers, their families and communities by requiring employers to provide notice 60 days in advance of plant closings and mass layoffs.

The notice for Paramus and Ramsey takes effect on March 31. The notice for Livingston takes effect on April 30.
The department store chain will reportedly be closing 14 stores as part of its latest round of cuts. As first reported by Axios, and later confirmed by USA Today, the list will include the Macy’s at the Livingston Mall in New Jersey.

“Macy's Livingston is closing,” a message on the store’s website states. The closure will take place “soon,” although no date is listed.

The same message appears on the website for the Macy's Interstate in Ramsey. Meanwhile, a “store moving notice” is listed for the Macy's Rt. 4 Furniture and Mattress Gallery in Paramus, which is moving to Macy's Paramus Park.
