Man Charged After Attempted Burglary To Car In Livingston: Police

No news is good news: It was a slow week for crime in Livingston, according to police reports, with two arrests.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The last week in Livingston saw two arrests, according to police reports, including an attempted burglary to a vehicle in town.

This past Saturday, Aug. 12, at 8:37 a.m., Livingston officers responded to an Amelia Avenue residence on a report of a suspicious person running from a vehicle parked in a driveway.

Police found Jamar Snipes, 20, from Elizabeth at a residence on Amelia Avenue, they said.

Police said Snipes attempted to burglarize the vehicle, gave false information to officers, attempted to get rid of evidence, and had a warrant out for his arrest.

He was charged with criminal attempt, hindering, and destruction of evidence, police said. He was transferred to the Elizabeth police because of the outstanding warrant, they said.

Theft From Popeye's

On Friday at 11:48 a.m., Livingston officers responded to Popeye’s Chicken in the Livingston Mall on a report of a theft. Upon officers arrival they were met by Popeye’s staff and mall security and were told th at a tablet was stolen from the establishment. The suspect, Taron Wooten, 29, of N ewark, was found at a bus stop and in possession of the tablet. He was found to be in possession of stolen property from Macy’s, gave false information to police, and had several warrants out for his arrest, police said.

Police said he was charged with theft, receiving stolen property, and hindering apprehension. His charges were placed on a warrant and he was taken to the Essex County Jail.
