Man In Underwear Assaults Livingston Homeowner: Report

Livingston police arrested an East Orange man after he allegedly ran through several backyards, entered a home and started throwing things.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston police recently arrested an East Orange man after he allegedly ran through several local backyards – clad only in socks and underwear – entered multiple residences and assaulted a homeowner, a report says.

The alleged intruder, Shaheed Bennett, 33, of East Orange, may have been under the influence of “multiple drugs” when he began running through backyards on Orchard Lane, police told TAP Into Livingston.

Bennett is accused of entering an Orchard Lane home and taking a flashlight, which he used to enter another nearby home by breaking a glass pane on a front door, police told TAP Into.

The homeowner told police that he was in his basement when he heard noise coming from upstairs. When he went to check on the source of the commotion, he allegedly found Bennett breaking his furniture and throwing objects around the house, TAP Into Livingston reported.

Bennett allegedly threw an item at the homeowner, striking him in the head and causing severe bleeding. The victim was able to escape the house through the front door and was later taken to Saint Barnabas Medical Center for treatment of his injury, police told TAP Into.

After apprehending Bennett, police charged him with robbery, two counts of burglary, aggravated assault and weapons offenses, TAP Into Livingston reported. (Read the full article here)
