Mercedes Stolen And Several Car Break-Ins In Livingston In Last Week

The Livingston police released their roundup of crimes reported over the last week, including at the Livingston Mall.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston police released their roundup of crimes reported in the last week of May. Among the crimes:

Stolen Mercedes

Livingston officers responded to Demarest Road on Tuesday, May 30 at 3:04 p.m. on a report of a suspicious vehicle. They found a 2015 Kia that was running and unoccupied, and determined that it had been stolen from Woodbridge. But as police were investigating, they were told of a 2016 Mercedes Benz was stolen a short distance away, on Pitcairn Road. That car had been left unlocked with the key fob inside.

The Mercedes was recovered in Irvington the next day. The Livingston Detective bureau is investigating.

Thefts From Vehicles At Livingston Mall

On Wednesday, May 31 at 11:57 a.m., Livingston officers responded to the Livingston Mall on a report of a vehicle that was broken into. The victim said that someone had smashed the passenger side of his Ford, which was parked in Lot #4, and stole two wallets and an iPhone.

While officers were on the scene, another victim approached them. He said his work truck was entered and several wallets were stolen. That vehicle had been left unlocked. The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating.

Three 16-Year-Olds Arrested

On Thursday, June 1, at 12:27 p.m., police responded to the Livingston Mall on a report of several juveniles who were allegedly shoplifting inside Macy’s and then pulling on door handles of vehicles in the parking lot.

Upon officers' arrival, they found the suspects at a bus stop, they said. And investigation led to the arrest of three 16-year-old males from Irvington. They were charged with receiving stolen property and attempting to break into the vehicles.

Exxon Break-In

Police said that early Tuesday, June 6, at 2:03 a.m, police responded to a burglar alarm from the North Hills Exxon at 228 W Northfield Road. Police found the front door to the station forced open. The suspects did not take anything from inside the station, police said. The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating.

Shoplifting At Macy’s

Police responded to the Macy’s at the Livingston Mall on June 3 at 1:15 p.m. on a report of a shoplifter in the custody of Macy’s loss prevention.

One of the suspects had fled the scene by the time police got there, they said. The other, a 23-year-old woman from Syracuse, NY, had concealed over $1,500 in merchandise and left the store without paying, police said. She was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where she was charged with shoplifting and released on a summons.
