Mercedes Stolen While Woman Ran Into Livingston Store: Police

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston police took the following reports this past weekend:

Mercedes Stolen, Then Recovered

Last Friday, Sept. 2, at 2 p.m., Livingston officers responded to 100 W Mount Pleasant Ave. (a commercial building) on a report of a stolen Mercedes GLS.

Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, who said her vehicle had been stolen while she ran into a store. The victim had both key fobs. It was believed the vehicle may have been left running.

The vehicle was recovered in Newark the next day. The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating.

Drug Offense

On Sunday, Sept. 4, at 12 p.m., Livingston Officers Ryan Manger and Ryan Collis stopped a vehicle for having an expired registration and other equipment violations.

The driver, Joseph Calabretta, 54, from Bloomingdale, was found to be in possession of a hypodermic needle containing suspected heroin and other prescription drugs and placed under arrest, police said.

He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of prescription legend drugs and released on a summons.
