Roseland, East Hanover respond to truck fire during funeral mass.

Roseland and East Hanover firefighters responded on Wednesday when a fire broke out during the funeral mass of .

Mullin, brother of Chief Christopher Mullin, was a longtime volunteer in the Livingston Fire Department. He died last Friday at the age of 44.

On Wednesday, Mullin was given department honors, fellow firefighters in full dress and engines joining in the service at Saint Philomena Roman Catholic Church on South Livingston Avenue.

Shortly after the funeral mass began, sirens could be heard as mutual aid responded to Fordham Road, when a tree truck belonging to Kaiser Landscaping of Hillsborough caught fire. The truck’s engine and cab were fully engulfed in flames when firefighters from Roseland Engine 661 and East Hanover Engine 863 arrived, according to Livingston Det. Sgt. Anthony Dippold.  

The fire was close to a home and tree, but firefighters were able to put the flames out without incident, Dippold said. No injuries were reported.
