New Jersey Airport Closes After Small Plane Crash

A small plane crashed at a New Jersey airport Sunday, closing the facility, airport staff said.

The pilot and his wife were unhurt after experiencing engine failure at the Essex County Airport in Fairfield, Breilyn Rodriguez, who works in airport operations, told nj.com.

The pilot and his wife were the only people aboard, according to P3Air Aviation News.

The plane was a Beech BE 36, Jim Peters, a spokesman for the eastern region of the Federal Aviation Administration, told nj.com.

The airport and its runways were closed.
