The two rivals couldn't be closer. For a third time this season, Thursday's contest between Millburn and Newark Academy came down to one three-set match. And for a second time the edge went to Newark Academy on its home courts.
The Millers took the first point when first singles Rob Xie defeated Daniel Eatroff 6-2, 6-2. The next two points were Newark Academy's. Second singles Andre Rivera bested Jared Wishnow 6-0, 6-2, and first doubles Neil Sethi and Adam Hyatt beat Millers Dan Feldman and Nikhil Vohra 6-2, 6-2. Millburn's second-doubles siblings, Sebastian and Nicky Chen-Schmidt, tied the match at two all with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Grant Schalet and Logan Ericson.
All eyes were on the third singles match with Miller Tristan Lane battling it out with Om Pathak. After giving up the first set 4-6, Pathak took the second 6-4 and rolled to a 5-0 lead in the third set, eventually winning it—and the match—6-2.
