NJ-11 Election In Livingston: Key Deadline Nears For Local Voters
Plan to vote in the upcoming special election to replace Gov. Mikie Sherrill in Congress? Here's some useful info for Livingston residents.
LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston officials recently issued some reminders for residents who plan to vote in the upcoming special election to replace Gov. Mikie Sherrill in Congress.
When Sherrill was elected governor, she was required to resign from her seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. The 11th district includes several towns in Essex, Morris and Passaic counties – including Livingston.
A special primary election was held on Feb. 5 to determine the Democratic and Republican nominees. Analilia Mejia won the Democratic Party nod, and Joe Hathaway earned the GOP endorsement.

Mejia and Hathaway will match up against any independent or third-party candidates in a general election for all the marbles on April 16.
According to the Livingston Town Clerk’s Office, the last day to register to vote to be able to vote in the general election is Thursday, March 26.
Livingston residents can register to vote online here.
Alternately, registration application forms are available online at nj.gov/state/elections/voter-registration, or at the Livingston Township Clerk’s Office located on the first floor of Livingston Town Hall at 357 South Livingston Avenue in Livingston during regular business hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
To register in New Jersey, voters must be:
- A United States citizen
- At least 17 years old, although you may not vote until you have reached the age of 18
- A resident of the county for 30 days before the election
- A person not serving a sentence of incarceration as the result of a conviction of any indictable offense under the laws of this or another state or of the United States.
