Opening Day for Livingston National Baseball & Softball Season
Livingston Nationals honor 10-U Little Leaguers on Opening Day.
"Play Ball!"
With those two words announced by Pete Cilenti on Saturday, April 15, the opening weekend of the Livingston National Little League season kicked off.
The words are something Cilenti has either heard or said for the past 51 years at the fields of the Livingston National Little League & Softball complex.
During the opening ceremonies, league President Jon Fetner took time out to recognize the 10-U Livingston National Little League team that were 2011 New Jersey Section 2 Champions and New Jersey District 8 Champions.
Then, after the National Anthem was sung by Megan Foley, with her sister Jenna standing by her side, the ceremonial first pitches were ready to be thrown out.
Mayor Stephen Santola and Deputy Mayor Rudy Fernandez did the honors., then the words "Play Ball" resounded over the loadspeakers.
