Pedestrian Hit on Livingston Avenue

Victim in critical condition at UMDNJ; other incidents on this week's police blotter.

At about 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Henry Alexander, 69, of Livingston, was struck by a car as he crossed the street in the area of 176 N. Livingston Avenue.  

Steven Greene, 61, also of Livingston, was the driver of the 2002 Chevy minivan that hit Alexander. Greene was driving north on the road, as  Alexander crossed the street from east to west. Alexander was not crossing in a cross walk, police report.

Alexander was immediately transported to UMDNJ in Newark, where he remains in critical condition, according to police.

Other incidents reported to police for the week of December 23 - 29 include:

December 23: At about noon, police received a report from Heritage Middle School that there were impressions in the snow of a swastika and several obscenities. The impressions were reportedly visible from the second floor of the school, looking down at the snow. Police are investigating the incident.

December 27: Two similar criminal mischief incidents reported. A Stratford Drive resident reported at about 9:20 p.m. that orange paint had been sprayed all over the resident's house. A nearby homeowner on Goodhart Drive at 10:55 p.m. also reported that orange paint had been sprayed on the residence.
