Police Blotter: Mostly Quiet Midsummer Week Around Town
Some drugs, including crystal meth, found in car stopped for traffic violation
According to Livingston Police, it was a quiet week around town. However, a notable incident occurred during an August 13 traffic stop.
Around 8:30 pm Police Officer Christopher Wagner stopped a car on East Cedar for an improper turn. The driver, Antonio Modeste-Addison, 24, of East Hanover, was discovered to have traffic-based warrants out of Lyndhurst and Newark.
When he and his passenger Roberto Oliva, 27, of Belleville, stepped from the car the officers noticed a bag of what seemed to be marijuana as well as two small bags of a white powery substance. Both men were placed under arrest.

The substances were tested at Police Headquarters, where the one bag turned out to be marijuana. A bag of white powder was positive for cocaine, the other was crystal (meth) methamphetamine.
Judge Jones of Livingston Muncipal Court set bail was set at $7500 each. Because of Modeste-Addison's other warrants, his total bail was $7900. Both men posted bail and were released. Their court date is today, August 19, with the hearing in Newark.

List of charges: Possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, possession of crystal meth (a serious charge, since it is a schedule one narcotic). Also motor vehicle summons for the improper turn, drugs in motor vehicle, no insurance, failure to exhibit resigtration.
