Police Chase Carjackers Across Three Towns In Essex County
The chase began in Roseland, crossed Livingston and ended when the alleged thieves ditched their car in Millburn.

A police car chase that crossed three Essex County towns – Roseland, Livingston and Millburn – ended in the arrest of a Newark man and teen on Tuesday.
According to authorities, the chase began around 4:40 a.m., when Roseland police officers spotted two vehicles parked near the intersection of Eagle Rock and Locust avenues.
After running the vehicles’ license plates and learning that one of them was reported as stolen, the officers prepared to confront the suspects, at which point both cars took off eastbound on Eagle Rock Avenue.

The officers pursued both cars as they turned south on Livingston Avenue, but lost one of the vehicles shortly afterwards. Continuing their pursuit of the remaining car, the officers notified Livingston police about the incident and pursued the vehicle down Livingston Avenue, over the Short Hills border and towards Millburn.
The front tire of the suspects’ vehicle became disabled around the border of Millburn by a “swampy area” near the NJ American Water Company property, at which point the driver and his passenger ditched the car and fled on foot.

After a K-9 assisted search, officers from the Millburn, Livingston and Roseland police departments apprehended the suspects, who were brought back to Roseland headquarters to identify.
It was later learned that the car was reported stolen out of East Orange, authorities said.
Police charged the driver, a 16-year-old Newark teen, with eluding and receiving stolen property. He was transported to the Essex County Youth Detention Center.
Police charged the passenger, Kamar Baldwin, 21, of Newark, with receiving stolen property and transported him to the Essex County Jail.
