Pooches Parade for Homeless Dogs

Regal's paw-rade raises more than $2,000 for the Mount Pleasant Animal Shelter.

Canines posing as sea creatures, sports figures and even Tinkerbell drew peals of laughter and dozens of smiles at the third annual Dog Paw-rade in Livingston.

A group of 22 dogs strutted their stuff in Halloween attire around the Regal Bank parking lot, competing for trophies and ribbons.

The fundraising event and raffle help generate more than $2,000 for the Mount Pleasant Animal Shelter in East Hanover, said organizer Christina Slater, who also is the Regal Bank branch manager.

Slater said the community event has constantly grown every year and it's been great watching the children and pets enjoy the show.

An information booth for the Mount Pleasant Animal Shelter was on site and volunteers Anne Lynch, Diane Tait and Barbara Hancock introduced two dogs available for adoption, Pinky, a three-year-old beagle hound, and Dahlia, a two-year-old terrier bulldog mix.

The funds from the parade will help take care of all of the rescued dogs and cats at the shelter.
