PPEC Workshops for Parents of Special Needs Students

One in March and other in April give support to parents and guardians of students with special needs.

Livingston's Parents and Professionals for Exceptional Children (PPEC) will host two upcoming workshops at Heritage Middle School.

On Wednesday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m., the group will present How to Support Siblings of Special Needs Children.

Rebecca Coniglio, LCSW, will facilitate a session for parents that focuses on the topic of sibling rivalry and how it that affects siblings of special needs students.  For example,  siblings of such students often express concern for the sibling but also jealousy of the extra attention he or she may receive.  Families with special needs children invest a lot of energy and attention with the child needing additional support.   The session is intended to answer such questions of how to deal with the other child or children who struggle to adjust to the family dynamic.
