“A high ranking indicates that teachers are intelligent and engaging, the school is invested in its teachers, and students and parents rate their teachers favorably,” Niche.com states on their website.
The Niche.com ranking wasn’t the only positive list that Livingston schools have been included on lately. Recently, the Washington Post ranked the district’s high schools among the nation’s “Most Challenging.” [See related article here]
HERE’S WHAT STUDENTS HAD TO SAY
As part of the report, Niche.com published feedback from students at the school (which counted for 30 percent of the ranking’s weight):
- “Basically all of the teachers in this school respect their students and teach in their own styles to get their points across. Some teachers go over the top and teach much more than needed in the curriculum, while others stick to the curriculum and make it fun, enjoyable, and challenging at the same time.”
- “I have close relationships with most if not all my teachers. I maintain these relationships, and I’m even close with teachers I never had.”
- “The guidance counselors are unbelievably supportive of students. I have had two guidance counselors in my high school career and both have been extraordinarily helpful, encouraging, and comforting. The principal also wants to see students succeed and wants to make sure the students are enjoying their time in high school. In fact, the other day when it snowed in school, the principal came outside to help students brush snow off their cars before driving home.”
- “Most teachers are understanding and want to see us do well. The good teachers are incredible, however, there are some teachers who believe it is there way or the high way and aren’t very lenient with their policy.”
- “Administrators don’t care very much. You can do whatever you want. Most girls wear extremely provocative clothing, couples can hold hands, kiss etc. in the hall ways... People cheat on tests and get away with it. However if they do find out about being high or drinking in class they take it VERY seriously.”
