Route 10 Traffic Alert: Resurfacing Project To Affect Livingston Area [MAP]

The project will affect the area from West Northfield Avenue in Livingston to Merklin Avenue/Kelly Drive in West Orange.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — A New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) resurfacing project is underway on Route 10 in Essex County, Livingston town officials recently announced. The project will affect the area from West Northfield Avenue in Livingston to Merklin Avenue/Kelly Drive in West Orange.

The NJDOT’s contractor, Schifano Construction Company, has crews working on traffic signal upgrades, and on sidewalk and ADA curb ramp improvements, Livingston municipal officials stated.

“[Residents and commuters] may notice work along Route 10 occurring daily between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the next several months,” officials stated.

“The majority of the work on this project will be completed via staged construction during daytime hours and should have minimal impact on the flow of through traffic,” Livingston officials said. “One lane at a time (mostly between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.) will be closed for paving work, anticipated in fall 2017.”

According to a February DOT news release about the effort, the $2.3 million state-funded Route 10 resurfacing project is expected to be completed in early 2018. The three-mile resurfacing project will be completed in stages, and will include ADA ramps and curbs, and upgrades to six traffic signals.
