Breast Awareness Events: Breast Health for Life - The Pink Crusade

Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center and The Mall at Short Hills are on a crusade, The Pink Crusade. View the striking exhibit showcasing survivor stories and important information that every woman should know about early detection for Breast Cancer. Visit our more than 60 partner stores to receive valuable health tips throughout the month of October. Stop by Guest Services to be entered into a drawing to win a $250 Mall at Short Hills Gift Card. Dedicate a pink ribbon for our Pink Ribbon Garden by registering on the iPad in Grand Court. Most important, don't forget to get your mammogram and remind your friends to do the same! Fashion for the Pink Crusade

Diabetes Self-Management Class

The Diabetes Self-Management Class, available for all ages, is taught by certified diabetes educators, nurses and nutritionists, and includes four two-hour classes plus a one-hour follow-up class. Topics covered include Diabetes disease process, nutritional management, physical activity, medications, monitoring, prevention, detection, and treatment of acute and chronic complications, goal setting and problem solving, and psychosocial adjustment. The New Jersey Bariatric and Metabolic Institute at Saint Barnabas offers a monthly specialized support group for patients who have had bariatric surgery. This informal group provides an opportunity for patients to discuss weight loss surgery experiences. Each support group offers additional educational and networking opportunities for participants. We welcome patients who are preparing for surgery as well. All meetings are run by a registered dietitian and a licensed psychologist. 16th Annual Miracle Walk to Benefit the SBMC NICU

The 16th Annual Miracle Walk, created by a group of parents in appreciation of the care their children received, benefits the 56-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. Caregiver Overload

Caregiver overload occurs when the tasks that are required to care for a loved one build up to the point of being too stressful. The danger of taking on too much as a care partner or family caregiver is that in most instances the caregivers’ health and well-being is at risk. Many caregivers neglect their own health and begin to feel overwhelmed, depressed, exhausted, and isolated. It can lead to problems eating and sleeping.
