Award-winning artist and Livingston resident, John Wolff, will be hosting an exhibit of his watercolor, graphite and pastel portraits during the month of December, 2018 in the Koether Art Gallery located in Crane’s Mill, 459 Passaic Avenue, West Caldwell, NJ (973-276-6700). An artist’s reception will be held from 2-4 PM on Saturday, December 8.
John Wolff spent over 20 years as a corporate pilot, retiring as an International Captain with the NetJets organization. Before changing to an aviation career, Wolff spent 17 years as a Marketing Research manager with such companies as Warner-Lambert, General Foods and Philip Morris. Because his flight schedule prevented attending scheduled classes, he is essentially a self-taught artist supplemented by watercolor and drawing workshops with such artists as Paul McCormack, Roberta Carter Clark, Elizabeth Horowitz, Mary Whyte, Ted Nuttall and Mel Stabin. He turned to watercolor because it was easily transportable and could be used during the time he spent away from home.

Wolff specializes in portraits and figures in landscapes and uses the media of watercolor, graphite or pastel to portray the subject. Portraits are especially appealing not only because of the challenge of getting a likeness but also for the connection to the person he is painting.
Wolff has a BA and MA in Psychology from Randolph-Macon College and the University of Richmond, respectively. He is a Signature Member of the New Jersey, Garden State, Baltimore, Philadelphia and North East Watercolor Societies, and is a past president of the Essex Water Color Club.
