Severe thunderstorms are possible in Essex and Hudson counties Tuesday afternoon and evening.
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for Tuesday, saying severe thunderstorms and “large hail” are possible for the region.

“The biggest threats with these storms will be torrential rain and gusty winds in excess of 60 mph,” AccuWeather Meteorologist Edward Vallee said on his agency’s site.
According to the National Weather Service, the forecast for Monday and Tuesday is:

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 73. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable in the evening.
Tuesday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 10am and 1pm, then a chance of thunderstorms after 1pm. Some of the storms could be severe. Partly sunny and hot, with a high near 91. South wind 7 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
Tuesday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11pm. Some of the storms could be severe. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 68. West wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
