A new EV fast-charging Freedom Station® site at Livingston Mall
Simon, a global leader in retail real estate, and NRG EVgo (ee-vee-go), a subsidiary of NRG Energy, Inc., announced today the installation of a new EV fast-charging Freedom Station® site at Livingston Mall. Electric Vehicle (EV) drivers are now able to plug in and re-charge their cars in as little as 30 minutes while they shop or grab a bite to eat at one of New Jersey’s premier shopping destinations.
“As Simon’s growing network of state-of-the-art electric vehicle charging stations expand to New Jersey, they continue to show our commitment to delivering a more sustainable shopping experience that is also convenient for our guests,” said John Westbrook, general manager for Livingston Mall. “Adding car charging stations to the area illustrates the many opportunities we have as a company to incorporate sustainable practices into our day-to-day operations.”
“EVgo charging stations provide the confidence New Jersey drivers need to purchase an EV and discover an incredible new driving experience,” said Brendan Jones, EVgo’s East Region Vice President. “By adding to our expansive network of charging stations, EV drivers today have more freedom than ever, whether running errands or on longer adventures.”

Livingston Mall’s new EVgo Freedom Station is located near the mall entrance between Barnes & Noble and Macy’s. Shoppers with compatible cars can use the CHAdeMO DC fast charger with the ability to provide a Nissan LEAF an 80 percent charge in less than 30 minutes. The Freedom Station also provides two Level 2 chargers, able to charge all EVs and plug-in Hybrids.
The charging stations are self-service and easy to operate. Shoppers can just “pull up and plug in” and leave their vehicles at the charging station while they enjoy time at the center. The charging stations support Simon’s sustainability practices and exercise the company’s green energy initiatives. While focusing on important environmental issues, the stations also add another level of convenience to the overall shopping experience for green drivers.
