Six Break-ins And Burglaries Reported In 3 Days In Livingston

A total of six cars and homes were entered by strangers in the middle of July in Livingston, police said. Several items were stolen.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — One house and five cars were broken into over three days in July in Livingston, police said.

Vehicle Break-Ins And Burglaries

On July 13 at 1:02 p.m., Livingston officers responded to a Thames Drive residence on a report of three vehicles that were entered in the overnight hours, police said.

Upon arrival, officers met with a homeowner who said they found items strewn about one of their vehicles upon entering it in the morning.

The person then checked surveillance video and found a stranger entering the three unlocked vehicles parked in the driveway, police said.

Nothing was missing from the vehicles and the case is being investigated by the Livingston Detective Bureau, police said.

Later that day, at 9:58 p.m., Livingston officers responded to a Chelsea Drive residence on a report of a burglary to a vehicle, police said. A homeowner said he noticed items misplaced in his vehicle, which led him to discover that his unlocked Cadillac had been entered in the overnight hours.

A laptop and garage door opener were stolen, he said. The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating.

On July 15, at 4:34 p.m., Livingston officers responded to a Crestview Hill Road residence on a report of a burglary to a vehicle, police said.

Upon officers' arrival, a neighbor reported seeing a suspect pull up in front of the house and enter the victim's unlocked BMW and then retreat to a waiting vehicle, police said.

Residential Burglary

On July 14, at 11:16 p.m., Livingston officers responded to a Cobblewood Drive residence on a report of a burglary to the home.

A homeowner said that upon returning home, she found that the home had been ransacked. A broken window was discovered in the rear of the home.

The homeowner is compiling a list of stolen items.
