Smoke Condition at Livingston's Westminster Hotel Was Only Burned Food: Authorities

A reported smoke condition at the Westminster Hotel in Livingston turned out to be only burned food in the microwave, fire officials say.

Livingston, NJ – A reported smoke condition at the Westminster Hotel in Livingston on Tuesday night turned out to be only burned food in the microwave, fire officials say.

Livingston Fire Chief Christopher Mullin told Patch that firefighters received an automatic fire alarm and 9-1-1 call from the hotel reporting smoke in the basement area.

“A general alarm was transmitted, and upon arrival of the fire department it was determined that the source of the smoke was burned food in a microwave oven in the basement,” Mullin said. “There was no damage other than the burned food.”
