Snapshot: Students Honored

Various student groups lauded by BOE for outstanding achievements.

Student achievers were applauded by the Board of Education at Monday's meeting.

Heritage Middle School student Jessica Yang was honored for being named a National Student Leader for achieving perfect scores on five Continental Math League Meets.  The Heritage Middle School seventh and eighth grade Euclidean Division placed first in the region in the competition and was saluted, too.

Heritage Middle School eighth grade students Sihan Want, Grant Wu, Sibo Wang and Brian Lee recently placed first in another math competition called MATHCOUNTS.  The students were recognized for their achievements.

Shira Li, Joshua Wang, Nathan Chow and Larry Chen — all seventh graders at Heritage Middle School—placed second in the region in the NJ Math League. The Mount Pleasant Middle School team with Adam Chang, Cathy Nie and Albert Wen tied for second place in the state and won first place in the region. The Heritage Middle School eighth grade team with Grant Wu and Sibo Wang placed second in the state and region.

Harrison Elementary School third graders including Michael Chyr, Erin Eagen, Jacob Fuhrman, Gabrielle Kedrie, Christopher King, Jason Mooney, Juliet Nangini and John Rosero received third place in the Law Fair sponsored by the NJ State Bar Association.  Karin Pinto coached the team.

The High School's Science Olympiad Team comprised of Amy Xu, Sam Yang, Dan Chi, Peter Yao, Paul Kim, Kevin Shi, Sarah Tse, Ben Wany, Lauren Wolfe, Kelvin Yao, Kelly Zhang, Paula Binsol, Stephanie Chen, Saagar Deshpande, Tim Kunisky, David Li, Deborah Rothbard, Collin Stocks and Matt Tse were cited for placing fifth overall.

Ellika Salari, was congratulated for receiving first place in the Second Annual Tri-Collegiate Psychology Research Symposium.
