Livingston's Original Soupman serves soups faithful to the legendary original.
If you remember Seinfeld, the hit TV comedy starring Livingston’s own Jason Alexander (LHS Class of ’77), you certainly remember George and some of the funniest episodes with the Soup Man.
Well the Soup Man took his fame and recipes and moved from New York City to new locales, including Alexander’s hometown.
You won’t find Albert Yeganah, the original Soup Man, behind the counter shouting his pop-culture catchphrase: “No soup for you! Next!” But you will find his soups being served by folks running the

At the Original Soupman on Mount Pleasant Avenue in Livingston everyone gets their soup. In fact they were downright friendly on a recent Saturday, serving a medley of soups for Patch tasters to try.
The Livingston bistro seats less than 10 people, but serves plenty of soup and sandwiches, most which are ordered for takeout. Up to 10 soups are offered daily at $4.95 for a cup of vegetable soup, up to $8.99 a cup for speciality soups like lobster bisque.

We tasted the butternut squash soup -- chunks of butternut squash, simmered in cream with honey and flavored with carrots, spices and citrus -- which was thick and delicious on a cold winter’s day. We're told mushroom barley is the most popular. But our favorite was the corn shrimp chowder, a combination of two recipes which we’re told is also one of Al’s favorites.
