A Stolen Porsche And A Man Found With A Gun: Livingston Police Roundup

A stolen Porsche and a 74-year-old man caught with a gun: Here are crimes reported by Livingston police for the first week in August 2023.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston police responded to a car in the shoulder of a road last week and found a man in possession of a gun, they said.

Police said that at 7:53 p.m. last Wednesday, Aug. 2, Officer Danielson was patrolling and saw a Toyota Corolla stopped in the shoulder of the road near Route 280 and Laurel Avenue.

Danielson came upon the driver, Lester Greenwood, 73, of Sutersville, PA. Police said he was found to be in possession of a firearm and placed under arrest.

He was charged with three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon/device and one count of possession of a handgun, police said. He was taken to the Essex County Jail. Find out more here.

In other Livingston police news last week:

On Tuesday, Aug. 1, at 1:02 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of Staples, 506 West Mount Pleasant Ave., on a report of a suspicious vehicle. Workers there said that when they arrived at the loading dock area that day, a 1996 Ford Econoline van was parked nearby.

The 27-year-old van had been stolen from New York City several days earlier, police said. The Detective Bureau is investigating.

Also, on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 6:24 a.m., Livingston officers responded to a Pebble Beach Drive residence on a report of a stolen vehicle.

The homeowner said that a Porsche Cayenne had been stolen from the driveway sometime overnight. It had been left unlocked with the key fob inside.

The vehicle was later recovered in Orange, police said. The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating.
